Dieter Coletti, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Davis Hospice, with his daughter Tanya and granddaughter Savannah holding his hand, and grandsons Caleb and Caden by his side. Born in Trier, West Germany, on June 10, 1948, Dieter was known for his warmth, strength, and deep compassion for others.
In 1962, Dieter moved to the United States and settled in Great Falls, Montana, embracing his new life with openness and resilience. He later returned to Germany to serve four years in the Army. After his service, he made his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he met and married his soulmate, Teresa Ann Powers, in 1974. Together, they built a life filled with love, raising their two children, Tanya Marie Coletti and Demetrius Maynard Coletti. Dieter and Tanya shared an especially unique and close bond as not only father and daughter but also best friends.
For 42 years, Dieter owned and operated the Wyoming Motel and Luxury Diner, cherished community fixtures known for their warmth and welcoming spirit. Dieter’s generosity extended to all in need, and he was recognized with the Humane Award for four consecutive years and the “Do Gooder” award from Blue Federal, honoring his dedication to kindness and service. He supported numerous charities, especially those benefiting children and animals, and held a particular love for animal causes.
Dieter was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Gertrude Coletti; his sister, Dorothy Lundgren; and his beloved wife, Teresa Coletti. He is survived by his children, Tanya Marie Coletti and Demetrius Maynard Coletti; his brother, Robert “Bobby” Coletti and wife Anne, along with their children, Christian, Caleb, Carrina, and Corban. Dieter is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Steven Isaac Hernandez, Jacob Anthony Hernandez, Caleb Anthony Coletti, Savannah Jade Coletti, Asia Alisa Apodaca, Caden Coletti, Arriana Campos, and Gloria Campos. He leaves behind his daughter-in-law Shannon Rickart, daughter-in-law Amanda Miller, son-in-law Jason Hernandez, and son-in-law Richard Martinez. Many dear friends, including Nick Nelson, Jesse Pierce-Frujilo, and Willie Hill, along with several others who fondly called him “Uncle D,” will remember him with love. Additionally, he leaves behind his loyal dogs, who brought him joy and companionship throughout his life.
Dieter’s legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to his community and beloved animals will be cherished by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Cheyenne Animal Shelter. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and the entire community.
A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel, with a reception to follow at The American Legion Post 6.
