Dennis Paul McDonald, 75, passed at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Cheyenne Jan. 26th surrounded by loved ones. He was born Feb. 27th 1942 in Chicago, IL to William and Charlotte (Wirth) McDonald.
Dennis married Nancy (Mullen) August 12th, 1976 and were happily married for 42 years. He became an active duty member of the U.S. AF that brought him to the state of Wyoming, his forever home. While employed at the Husky Refinery, he continued years of service as a traditional member in the Wyoming Air National Guard. He worked at the Refinery until retirement in 1985. He retired from the Wyoming Air National Guard in 2000 with 38 years of Military service. Following retirement he was employed with the State of Wyoming and worked as an environmental analyst for 15 years.
For several years Dennis was a bass guitarist for a local band, Buddy Ray and Excitement, he WAS Mr. Excitement! Dennis met the love of his life, Nancy, while on stage performing. They shared their first kiss on stage at the Bowlerama,
Dennis loved hunting, fishing, building and flying model planes, painting, supporting the Wyoming Cowboys, and spending time with his family and his beloved dog Harley (preceded by Beau, Koda, Kenia and Shadow). He was an avid golfer who loved playing with his wife, son and two grandsons.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Charlotte McDonald and grandson Carter Curran Daniel. Dennis is survived by his spouse Nancy (Mullen) McDonald; daughters Kim (Jack) of Cheyenne, WY, Kristin (Jeff) of Vail, AZ, Shannon (Mike) of Buena Vista, CO; sons Steven (Kathy) of Cheyenne, WY, Bradley (Tiffany) of Laramie WY; grandchildren, Jack (Amy), Courtney (Cody), Jordan (Evan), Michael, Laura, Justin, Shelby, Cody, Chayla, Alexis, Will, Wyatt. Great-grandchildren; Emberlynn, Wyatt, Liam, Brooklyn, Logyn, Crystal, Sawyer, Colt. Dennis is also survived by his two brothers Neal (Mary Alice), Keith (Wendy), his two sisters Trish and Jennifer (David) and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy and Dennis had the pleasure of becoming Billet Parents to Matt Broman and Joe Bellotti, two members of the inaugural Cheyenne Stampede Hockey Team, whom quickly became forever part of the McDonald family.
Services with Military honors will be held at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Tuesday January 30th at 10AM.
