Dennis Dwight Bland, 82, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at home November 6th.
Dennis was born April 12, 1939 in Blackjack, Missouri. Although he enjoyed growing up there, he ventured out beginning his career with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in 1958. In 1962, Dennis was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Arlington Hall Station and Fort Myer in Washington D.C. with additional details to LaPaz Bolivia and Belen, NM. After serving, he returned to BLM continuing his surveying career. He worked in Utah, Nevada, and California, before settling in Wyoming. Taking various supervisory roles along the way and retiring as an Office Supervisor of Office Operations in 1995 with 36 years of Federal Service.
While Dennis was in Belen, he met the love of his life, Barbara Mullins. After a short courtship, they were married February 19, 1964. Once arriving in Wyoming, they raised three children. Family and faith were everything to him. He was an active congregate with SonRise Church and a Cheyenne Philatelic Society member.
Dennis is survived by his children, Leland (Leanne) Bland, Melissa Mack, Melinda (Richard) Cummings; grandchildren, Stephen, Katianna, Dylan, Valerie, Keara, Mara, Amira, Marik; his sisters-in-law, Iris and Earnestine Bland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; brothers, Randall and Lacel; and parents, Lena and Ewing Bland.
A memorial service will be Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 a.m. at SonRise Church with the interment of cremains to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Garden where there will also be military honors.
