Delia Abeyta, loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Friday January 18, 2019 at the age of 86 in Albuquerque NM.
She was born Delia Ramoncita Romero on March 27, 1932 in Ledoux NM. She spent over 60 years in Cheyenne Wyoming raising her family and returned to NM in 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Pablo (Paul) Abeyta, her son Benjamin Abeyta; brothers Julian Romero, Fernando Romero; sister Priscilla Maestas; mother Isabel Romero, and father Leonor B. Romero. She is survived by her sister, Pearl Torres, of Espanola NM, brother, Wilfred Romero (wife Anna) of Cheyenne Wyoming, son Dr. William Abeyta (wife Lisa Marcilla) of Albuquerque NM; granddaughters, Dr. Alicia Abeyta (husband Adam Halpern), of Albuquerque NM, Alanna Abeyta (husband Dr. Jimmy Minner), of Albuquerque NM; great-grandchildren, Emryn, Ileona, and Aubrianna; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Delia was a devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cheyenne Wyoming for over 60 years.
A special thanks to Roann Sexon and Ron Mikus, as well as the staff of “A Love for Life” assisted living, for the loving, excellent care of Delia in the last year. Also a special thanks to Dr. Jorge Sedas for always making her laugh (she called him “mi doctor bonito”), and Dr. Francesco Standoli who cared for her at “A Love for Life”.
A rosary will be held Friday March 29, 2019 6pm at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel 1900 East 19th Street, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 30, 2019 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 603 House Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82007. A reception will follow at the St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
