Dean Rodger Varney, 87, of Cheyenne died Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 27, 1927 in Culbertson, Nebraska and had lived here since 2006 with prior residence on a ranch southeast of Lusk.
He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII, the Army and later the Army National Guard.
His Civilian career included 20 years with the US Treasury department.
He was a member of Zion Congregational Church and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Varney; son, Al J. Varney and grandson, Vincent Varney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Goldie Varney and siblings.
Life Commemoration will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Zion Congregational Church with Rev. Eric Snyder officiating.
Interment of his urn will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery Monday at 11:30 a.m.
