David “Bum” Jackson, Sr., 85, of Cheyenne, died on Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Cheyenne.
He was born on December 1, 1928 in Centreville, Mississippi and had lived here since 1948.
Mr. Jackson retired from Maintenance of Way for UPRR after 37 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the grandfather of Mitchell’s BBQ, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and landscaping.
He is survived by his wife, Leola (James) Jackson; his children, David Jackson, Jr., Mary Jackson, Robert Jackson (Eula Mae), Pauline Pierce (Phil Pierce preceded), Walter L. Jackson, Georgia Davidson (Charles Davidson preceded), Lorraine Morris, Betty Jackson, Jeffrey K. Jackson, and Tina Walker; two brothers, Robert and Carl Jackson; five sisters, Rosa Collins, Estelle Augustus, Justine Cosey-Grasty, Mattie Jackson, and Helen Humbles; 33 grandchildren; and 43 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Merritt; a brother, Howard Jackson; two sisters, Katie Mays and Loretta Bland; and his parents, Dewey and Mattie (Hawkins) Jackson.
Services will be Friday, 11:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Roberto Jackson, Charles Davidson, Octavion Jackson, JaNay Jackson, Marcus Morris, and Zachary Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are David Jackson, Jr., Je'Ney Jackson, Walter Jackson, Jeff Jackson, Terrell Lovett, Demetrius Jackson, Ojaylon Jackson, and Blake Jackson.
