David Clark, 59, of Cheyenne, passed on August 26, 2023, at University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Dave had battled type 1 diabetes since the age of 3.
He was born on February 26, 1964, to Bernice (Klements) & Forrest Clark in Pheonix, Arizona. Dave lived most of his life in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a part of the graduating class of 1982 at East High School.
After high school, Dave went to Colorado State University with an interest in microbiology and genetics. Eventually, he transferred to Laramie County Community College and graduated from the x-ray technician program. He worked as an x-ray tech for many years at the hospitals in Cheyenne; this was also where he met his late wife Rene (DeHerrera) Clark who was a nurse. He also worked in a Greeley clinic as well. Dave had a passion for taking care of others, he always said it was his life purpose.
Due to Dave’s diabetes, he had to stop his passion being an x-ray tech because of kidney failure. Thankfully, he received a kidney donor, and he went back to work at the State of Wyoming. He had worked there a handful of years, helped and met many people there before having to retire due to medical reasons.
Dave had a passion for athletics and coaching, especially softball and baseball. He had coached his children and many athletes over the years. He loved seeing the growth of skill and confidence in his athletes. Fundamentals was his favorite to focus on. As his children grew up, he would go to their adult softball games and tournaments, either cheering them on from the stands or being a base coach on the field. Outside of coaching, he also played in various softball and volleyball leagues with friends and hospital coworkers.
If you didn’t see Dave at the ball fields, you could see him attending mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral, volunteering at St. Mary’s Catholic school, walking around car shows, browsing antique shops, going to or watching Rockies games, visiting Poudre Canyon, enjoying poker nights, or jamming to Rock & Roll music somewhere. He loved human connections and could make friends and conversations anywhere he went. His family, children, and grandchildren meant so much to him; they enjoyed having family nights often.
Dave is survived by his children, Michelle Clark (Chris Rivera), Nicholas Clark (Cedes Clark); step-daughter, Bridget Garcia (Chuck); sister, Cindy Lamblin (Bret); brother, Phil Clark (Anita); grandchildren, Dominick, Mariana, Ryker; in-laws, Abe & Roberta DeHerrera; sister-in-law, Brenda Bundy (Dennis), Natalie Fry (Bob), Beverly DeHerrera (Jay Otto), Alison Hayden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
