David J. Bliss

David Jay Bliss, 73, of Cheyenne, passed away surrounded by his family at the Davis Hospice Center on Tuesday, December 16 2014.
Dave was born in Newcastle WY April 11, 1941 to Jay and Freda Bliss. He graduated from Newcastle High School and then started his career in the United States Air Force.
He worked for Boeing in Rapid City, South Dakota, Red Stone Arsenal in Alabama, Aerospace Technologies in Louisiana, and the Jet Propulsion laboratory in California. Dave taught computer languages at several junior colleges in California and later moved to Cheyenne to complete his career at the State of Wyoming as the Information Technology Director.
He married Iretha F. Follette in Spearfish, South Dakota on February 16, 1964.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jarvis & Mary and two grandsons, Josh & Daniel of Casper; a daughter, DelRae and Rob Bullock and two granddaughters, Sharaeah and Brandon Sharp (three great grandchildren) of Grinnell, Iowa and Miriah and Justin Bronder of South Korea; two grandsons, Talon and Tanner of Cheyenne; and one sister Marcia and Norman Carrell of Casper.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dave was active in SonRise Nazarene Church and had been a choir director, Treasurer, Secretary, and a Bible teacher for many years. He was also very active in the YMCA, an active volunteer official for the high school track programs.
Services will be Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at SonRise Nazarene Church.
Instead of flowers, the family has requested donations in David’s Memory be given to the SonRise church. The mailing address is P.O. Box 20426 Cheyenne WY 82003.
