Darlene Hickman, 86, of Cheyenne was reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years on January 28th. Darlene was born January 30, 1930 to Jacob and Pauline Bauer in Lyman, Nebraska and had lived in Wyoming since the age of five. She attended several different schools in Wyoming, graduating in 1948 from Yoder High School. She moved to Cheyenne in 1949 where she met Lawrence Hickman while working as a curb hop at the Owl Inn. They were married three months later on April 8, 1950. She worked at several restaurants as a waitress/manager at The Owl Inn, The Plains Hotel, Holiday Inn and the old Downtown Motor Inn where she retired from in January of 1992 after 20 years. Darlene was a member of Cheyenne Baptist Temple where she was in the choir. She has attended church there since 1953. She enjoyed baking and cooking and sharing her goodies with family and her many friends. Darlene loved fishing and camping in the Wind River Canyon in Wyoming where she and her husband were camp hosts for six years. She is survived by her children Gary (Sue) Hickman, Kathy Achord, Laurie (Craig) Hiett and Randy (Penny) Hickman. Her grandchildren, Chad (Amanda) Achord, Craig (Darcy) Achord, Brandon (Portia) Peterson, Arista (Jake) Hickman-Shippy, Brittney (Ryan) Goude, Joslyn (Tate) Reyes, Nathan Hiett, and Connor (Will) Collins. Her great-grandchildren; Dylan and Carly Achord, Carter and Grant Achord, Lauren and Taylor Peterson, and Dekker and Connlan Goude; brothers Ed “Bud” (Pinky) Bauer and Jack Bauer; sisters Pauline Walker and Esther (Don) Kremer. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Rueben and Bob Bauer, and sisters Mildred Marter, Marie Lehman, and Martha Varble. Pall bearers will be Chad Achord, Craig Achord, Brandon Peterson, Ryan Goude, Jake Shippy and Mark Pring. Honorary Pall bearers will be Arista Hickman-Shippy and Brittney Goude. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9AM to 8PM, and Thursday from 9AM to 7PM. Services will be held at Cheyenne Baptist Temple on Friday February 3rd at 10AM with burial to follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
