Daniel J. Madsen, 81, of Cheyenne, died Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Davis Hospice Center.
He was born February 24, 1934 in Soda Springs, Idaho, a son to John and Dortha (Wood) Madsen. Daniel attended schools in Idaho before joining the United States Air Force where he lived and served in various locations. He retired after 24 years of service. He moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1974 and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service.
Daniel married Joan Ione Crown on January 2, 1954 in Rapid City, South Dakota. She passed away on August 15, 2000.
Daniel was a loving husband, father, neighbor and friend who loved wood crafting, bird watching, reading and gardening.
Survivors include a son, Daniel (Lauren) Madsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; four daughters, Pamela (Christopher) Cypher of Cheyenne; Judy (Robert) Rankin of Cheyenne; Debra (Charles) Ingersoll of Cheyenne; Mary (Fred) Morgan of Belleview, Florida; seven grandchildren; Azure, Ryan, Zachary and Harmony Ingersoll, all of Cheyenne; Andrew Woods of Cheyenne; Easton and Keeley Madsen of Lincoln, Nebraska; a brother, John Madsen of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Donna Casper of Midvale, Utah and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; father, John Madsen; mother and step-father, Dortha and Jim Carlin; and a grandson, Chase Madsen.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Lakeview Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., with Military Honors by F.E. Warren Air Force Base Honor Team. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately afterward at Daniel’s home.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
