Daniel Y. Flores, 87, of Cheyenne, died Friday, November 21st in Cheyenne.
He was born May 4, 1927 in Yoder, Wyoming to Daniel and Agapita Flores. He graduated from Huntley High School in 1945. He served in the U. S. Army. He moved to Sunrise in 1952 where he worked as a miner. He met Belen Romero and they married in 1953.
They moved to Torrington where he worked for KN Energy. After Belen’s death, Dan moved to Cheyenne in 1991. He was named Volunteer of the year in 2010 by AARP. Daniel played the guitar and the accordion. He was an avid reader and writer. His interest in current events continued throughout his life. He enjoyed his family and held extreme pride in their accomplishments.
Survivors include daughters, A. Elaine (Tom) DeVaul of California; Deanne (Lloyd) Garcia of Cheyenne; Ila (John) Bishop of Cheyenne; a brother, Jack Flores; two grandchildren, L. Daniel (Tammy) Garcia of Denver; Michelle (Keoki) Cooper of Hawaii; and two great grandchildren, Joel and Kailey Garcia of Denver.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents; siblings, Mary Flores, Joe Flores, Anna Martinez and Julie Clements.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Wednesday, at 6:00 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Torrington at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1st.
