Dale Allan Johnson, son of Henry and Audrey Johnson was born on
September 9, 1954 at Sampson AFB, NY. He was the 2nd of five children.
As a military dependent, Dale had the opportunity to travel the world with his parents, and siblings. It was in Altus AFB, Oklahoma that his family noticed his musical talent and the gift he had to play the piano by ear when he was around 13 years old.
The family relocated to Guam where Dale attended Jr. High. It was there that his father bought Dale his first guitar and taught him a few cords. He caught on quickly, formed his first band and played at the NCO Club.
Dale attended high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he played the tuba in the East High School Band. It was in Cheyenne where his musical talent soared. He played the electric guitar with several different bands before graduating in 1972. After graduation, Dale kept busy with his musical career, playing the electric guitar with several different bands. For many years he played with Carol and Jack, a well-known group throughout the city of Cheyenne. They played in various locations including Little Bear, the Hitching Post and Little America.
Later, Dale relocated to Ft. Collins, Colorado where he was employed for 10 years with Burlington Northern Railroad. He, however, did not give up on his love for playing the guitar and joined a group that frequented the Sports Page.
After leaving the Railroad, Dale worked at the Silver Grill where he was a manager. Due to health reasons, he retired several years ago.
Dale’s longtime idol was Jimmy Hendrix. He received from a friend two large posters of the legend, which were framed and hung in his apartment.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers: Dennis Johnson and Doug Johnson; two sisters: Darlene Gresham and Denise Johnson; one brother-in-law: Wesley Gresham; two sister-in-law’s: Anne Johnson and Angel Johnson; long-time friend Linda Kunselman of 31years; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Dale departed this life on February6, 2016. He was a kind and caring person, wonderful brother and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
