Craig Dayle Butner, 65, of Cheyenne passed away March 14, 2015.
He was born January 28, 1950 in Wheatland to Dayle and Geneva (Sparks) Butner. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1969. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1969. Craig was stationed in Milton, Florida to a VT 3 Training Squadron. He was transferred to Oak Harbor, Washington to the Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island to the VA 95 Squadron, during this time, he had detachments to the air craft carrier USS Coral Sea CVA 43. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in January 1976 as an AMH Second Class Petty Officer.
Craig was employed by the State of Wyoming on April 1, 1977 with the Department of Revenue and Taxation and retired July 3, 2008 from the Department of Transportation, Wyoming Highway Patrol as a Port of Entry Supervisor.
Craig was preceded in death by his father, Dayle L. Butner.
He is survived by his mother, Geneva Butner; sister, Sandra (Raymond) Proper of Pullayup, Washington; sister, Susan (Vince) Green of Cheyenne; nephews, Raymond Proper of Japan, Steven (Sonja) Proper of Seattle, Washington and their daughters, Sienna and Silver; Matt Proper of Tacoma, Washington and Caolon (Erin) McNamee of Cheyenne and their sons, Leo and Cyrus.
Craig enjoyed family, motorcycling, fishing, and hunting.
Graveside services will be held for family and close friends on Saturday, March 21st at 3:00 p.m. at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland.
