Cleo Emelina Lucero

December 22, 1930 — September 11, 2020

On Friday, September 11, 2020, Cleo Emelina (Rivera) Lucero, loving wife and mother was called peacefully to our Lord from her home in Beulah, Wyoming, surrounded by devoted family members. She expressed her deep appreciation of being blessed with visits from numerous loved ones in the weeks prior.

Born December 22, 1930, in Rainsville, NM, to Elias and Victoria (Cruz) Rivera, and was the second of 9 children.

Cleo married Ted Lucero Jr., on February 10, 1951, in Greeley, Co. and they were blessed with five children. She was a dedicated Catholic being an active member at both St. Mary’s Cathedral and Holy Trinity Church.

She worked full-time for the Laramie County School District at Carey Middle School Cafeteria for 28 years as well as cleaned house for her good friend Winnifred Reed for 50 years.

Cleo enjoyed cooking and baking her traditional New Mexico foods which was always a delight for family and friends. She absolutely loved crocheting gifts for family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Each year Cleo and her sisters got together for a “Girls Bling Bling Slumber Party” appreciating their journeys through life, eating goodies, and not having a bedtime.

She is survived by her husband Ted, children Kathy (Brian) Moreland, Sandra (Bob) Johnson, Steve (Lorraine) Lucero, Isabel (Bob) Waddell, and Doris (Brett) Hauf, 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and her surviving siblings: Dora Sanchez, Evelyn Garrido, Abe Rivera, Jerry Rivera, George Rivera, Vince Rivera, Lawrence Rivera, Charles Garcia (brother-in-law), and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a baby brother Frankie, sister Alice Garcia, and a great grandson.

Vigil for the Deceased, Thursday, October 29th, 6:00 p.m., Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Funeral Liturgy, Friday, October 30th, 10:00 a.m., Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Thomas Cronkleton as celebrant. Cleo's immediate family and her siblings are invited to attend. Wearing of masks and social distancing is mandatory. Live streaming of the Funeral Liturgy is planned so those who are not able to attend can participate in the blessings of the ceremony. Interment in Olivet Cemetery will follow and all are invited to attend.
