Cleo Pauline Allard

August 8, 1938 — September 26, 2019

Cleo passed away at her home at Stream-Side Assisted Living in Nampa on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Cleo was born to the parents of John and Beulah Johnson on August 8, 1938 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Her dad worked as a carpenter until he unexpectedly passed away when Cleo was only 5 years old. Later her mother remarried and the family moved to the Riverton, Wyoming area. It was here that Cleo met the love of her life, Charles Allard, after he returned from the Korean War Conflict. They were married in November of 1955 in Ely, Nevada.

Cleo and Chuck made their home in Cheyenne where their first child, a daughter, Karon Ann was born in 1956. They relocated to Riverton where three sons were born; Timothy in 1957, Tony in 1958 and Thomas in 1960. With four babies arriving so quickly Cleo was already truly doing what she loved so much throughout her life; making a home and loving her family. Chuck’s work took them back to Cheyenne and more sons arrived; Theodore in 1962 and Terence in 1966.

The family enjoyed frequent trips to see Grandma and Grandpa Allard in Riverton, family vacation trips, school days and activities, and especially holidays. Christmas time was always an event with two Christmas trees and gifts piled half-way up the tree. Even though Cleo’s hands were full with six kids she still worked outside the home. Cleo was known for her immaculate house and this ability was sought by others in the community.

In 1976 Grandchildren begin to arrive. While family was always important to Cleo, she now thrived in it. Over the years she was blessed with over 30 Grandchildren and many more adopted her as Grandma. She had many close friends whom she loved as family. Cleo could tell stories with such humor that caused much laughter. Her visits and talks with friends and family were warm and friendly and always a delight.

She was very involved with all her grandchildren, planning weekend sleep overs and as many outings as possible. As her children grew to be adults some relocated, but Mom made sure distance wouldn’t stop frequent visits. Early in the 1990’s young granddaughter Tedi Lynne became part of Cleo and Chuck’s home until she became an adult.

Cleo lost Chuck, her loving husband, in October of 2002. She continued to live in her home and later companion JR (Junior) Holt made his home with her. In 2014 they moved to the Whispering Chase Retirement Community in Cheyenne. Cleo cherished her family and friends and made many new friends. She stayed in close contact with all, often by phone. She loved to read books, the newspaper and participate in all the activities at the retirement community. She was renowned for her beautiful colored-pencil drawings. Cleo began to have difficulties moving about and enjoyed the freedom provided by her electric scooter.

In 2015, Cleo and Junior moved closer to her son Tony in Nampa, Idaho. They purchased a home and remained until Cleo moved to Stream-Side Assisted Living in February, 2019. Junior passed away in 2018. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and battled continual joint problems. Through it all she loved her family, her friends and her caregivers. She will always be missed.
