Charles K. Ronning, 84, of Cheyenne, died Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Cheyenne.
He was born November 7, 1930 in Scranton, North Dakota a son of Gilbert and Hazel Ronning. Charles graduated from Scranton High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Dickinson State Teacher’s College and his Master’s in Business Education from MSU in Bozeman, Montana. Charles was an educator, living in places such as North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. He worked at Carey Junior High School in Cheyenne. Chuck married Gloria Nichols on December 11, 1948 in Dickinson, North Dakota.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he filled all positions that a lay person could fill. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, and the VFW. He belonged to the Good Sam’s Club, Sons of Norway; Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, Disabled American Veterans and the Laramie County Retired Teacher’s Assn.
Survivors include his wife Gloria, of Cheyenne; sons, Mark C. (Rhonda) of Worland; Thomas J. (Stephanie Bleiker) of Arvada, CO and Ted of Cheyenne; daughters, Julane “Julie” (Alan) Wood of Cheyenne and Sheila (Danny) Ness of Scranton, ND; twelve grandchildren, Michael Ronning, Cortney Heeftle, Steve Wood, Keri Hall, Brandi Fries, Josh Ness, Ben Ronning, Bridget Ronning, Crissy Brigham, Taylor Cowden, Kelcey Ronning and Isaac Ronning, seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Lois (Pierre) Pigeon of Scranton, ND; Donna (Gary) Larson of Grand Forks, ND; and a brother, Lowell “Milan”Ronning of Melverne, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tom and Darrell Marking.
Funeral Liturgy will be Friday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
