Charles “Ray” Moore, 92, passed away peacefully November 9, 2014 at Centre Ave. Healthcare in Ft. Collins, Colorado.
He was born October 7, 1922 to Vern and Bessie (Irwin) Moore in Garden City, Kansas.
He married Helen (Davis) Moore June 12, 1945 in San Francisco where he was stationed in the Merchant Marines.
Ray served in WWII and saw active duty overseas. He was able to go on the Honor Flight and enjoyed the experience.
Ray retired, after 32 years of service, from the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. He started his career in Cheyenne and returned later in his career as Tower Chief. Upon retirement, he left Cheyenne to return to Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ray’s hobbies included fishing, photography, golf and was an accomplished chef, entertaining friends and family with his culinary fair.
He is survived by his daughter, Jan (Moore) and Randy Dancliff; son, Charles “Chuck” and Sheila Moore; three grandchildren, Mindi Pryce, Rob Dancliff, Madysen Moore and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; wife, Helen and grandson, Ryan.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Private family services are being planned for a later date.
