Charles Kline, 94, of Cheyenne passed away July 7th at Davis Hospice Center.
He was born March 19, 1923 in Boulder, Colorado.
Charles began his naval service in July 1943, starting out in the V-12 Navy College Training Program at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He served aboard the USS Pollack and on the surrendered German U-858. Charles started the auto mechanics program at Cheyenne Central High School. He later worked for the Wyoming State Department of Education. In 1984 he retired from Laramie County Community College as financial aid director.
Charles was a 33rd Degree Mason, member of the Cheyenne Shrine Club, a Shrine Clown, member of Scottish Rite. He served on the board of the Salvation Army and Magic City. He also was a volunteer for Cheyenne Frontier Days and served as an election volunteer. He and his wife, Betty, enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling in their RV and dancing.
Charles is survived by two daughters, Leigh Spruell and Charla Kline; three siblings, Alfred Kline, Patricia Hope, and Alice Huss; four grandchildren: Toni Bristow(Leonard), Ashley Spruell, Elizabeth Martinez(Nathaniel) and Hilary Magner(Kevin) and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, of 70 Years; parents, Marion and Charlotte Kline and two children, Charles Kline, Jr. and Shannon Roberts.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Private service will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017.
