Charles Nelson Guthrie, 84, of Cheyenne, passed away February 6, 2024, at Granite Rehabilitation and Wellness.
He was born on June 2, 1939, in Lubbock, Texas, to William Nelson Guthrie and Mildred Oliver Guthrie.
Charles worked hard all his life and was known as a master car mechanic and highly respected remodeling carpenter. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, with much of his time spent in Korea. He dearly loved spending time in the mountains, even trying his hand at panning for gold. In his younger days, he enjoyed riding a motorcycle and playing the steel guitar.
Charles is survived by a brother Leo Guthrie (Gayle) of Denison, Texas, a sister Ellen Goodson (Henry) of Denton, Texas, nephews Eric Fretz, Evan Fretz, Terry Trammell, James Guthrie, and nieces Karen Keele, Michele Hooker, and Jaymie Tischmacher-Holley.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Leone Fretz and nieces Stephanie Fretz and Jennifer Fretz.
Arrangements are being handled by Weiderspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne.
