Charles Denton "Chuck" Cloud

November 22, 1937 — December 1, 2022

Charles (Chuck) Denton Cloud, beloved husband and cherished father, died on December 1, 2022. Charles was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to Frances (Davolt) and Noble Augustus Cloud. After completing high school, Charles married Jeanette Sue Ervin and joined the United States Army, stationed in Japan for several years. Afterward, he and his wife returned to the United States and settled in Prairie Village, Kansas, to raise their children. Charles pursued a career in sales and attended Johnson County Community College, earning an associate's Degree.
Chuck was often mistaken for Andy Williams - with his slim good looks, ornery streak, and singing voice. He enjoyed the resemblance.
He was known for his home remodeling skills, ability to keep old Mustang cars running, coaching his son’s baseball teams, golfing, and his friendly nature. He made friends wherever he went. His children recall many happy summers driving around the United States, camping, and visiting sites.
In 1997 Charles' life was forever changed when he met and married Julia Fetters Alles. He moved to Cheyenne to be with her and her family, where they fully embraced him and his children.
In retirement, he and Julia traveled the world, ultimately settling at Lake Havasu for the winters and Cheyenne for the summers. They made regular trips to see his children and grandchildren until early 2022 - happily driving from one house to the next across Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri.
Chuck passed away, surrounded by his family, at Cheyenne, VA, on December 1, 2022.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, brother John and infant son Kevin. He is survived by his loving wife, Julia, and their children: Lisa (Harry) O’Dell, Scott (Sara) Cloud, Sarah (Tim) Fox, Laura Cloud, Robert (Bonnie) Alles, Paul (Ellen) Alles, Janine (Rick) Thompson, Michelle (Scott) Schramm, Michael (Shanna);
