Carroll “Sue” Backus; Grams; age 82 of Cheyenne, WY passed away peacefully on September 14, 2017 at Davis Hospice Center.
Sue was born April 8, 1935 in La Junta, CO to Margie (Eddie) Pinette. She was later adopted be Margie’s sister Dorothy and her husband Cecil Lyon. She always felt blessed to have two mothers and two fathers.
Sue was passionate about many things in life, among them the Denver Broncos, Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo, and teaching. She began her career in a rural school, Ridley Elementary, where she taught a handful of student’s kindergarten through sixth grade. She also taught at Churchill and Baggs Elementary, where she would retire after thirty two years.
She was a member of the Cowgirls of the West, and in 2010 was the Honorary Cowgirl. She never missed a Cheyenne Frontier Days and her spirit will forever live on at Chute 9.
Sue is survived by her and Glenn Vosler’s six children: Mike Vosler (Ranea), Scott Vosler (Lynn), Dottie Buckley (Gaylon), J. Todd Vosler (Charlyne), Valree Lopez (Belarmino – deceased), and Cecil Vosler (Beth); ten grandchildren Aaron Vosler, Brett Vosler (Jennifer), Austin Vosler, Sean Buckley, Stacey Brown (Mark), Kylie Vosler, Kelsey Vosler (Josh), Brandon Buckley, Shaylee Lopez, and Rylee Lopez (Damian); four great grandchildren Mary Grace Vosler, Jonathan Vosler, Beau Brown, and Blake Brown. Sue also has two sisters Penny Pinette and Barbara Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law Belarmino Lopez, her siblings Sharon Knight and Tom Pinette. Cremation has taken place at Wiederspahn Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes. The family plans services at a later date and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the charity of choice.
