Carolyn Johnson, 80, formerly of Cheyenne, died March 23 at Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange, Fla.
Carolyn was born Aug. 11, 1935, in Gallup, N.M., the daughter of late James and Gertrude Boatright.
She married William Johnson on Aug. 25, 1953, in Greeley, Colo.
She was active in scouting while raising her four children. She then began her own career in the insurance industry, and retired from the State of Wyoming Insurance Department after many years of dedicated service.
She was an active member of the XJWC Women’s Organization and her church, Christ Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed travel, gardening, following politics, and her two cherished pets, Buster and Angel.
Most of all she enjoyed the warm sunshine of her home in Port Orange.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Johnson and partner Thomas Moore of Port Orange, Eric Johnson of Cheyenne, Charles and Tana Johnson of Cheyenne, and Nadine Johnson and Rob Burroughs of Waterloo, Neb.; and grandchildren, Travis and Nicki of Cheyenne, Michaela of Washington D.C., Reid of Omaha, Neb., Kenny and Erica of Phoenix and Cameron of Grand Junction, Colo.
She also is survived by her loving and dedicated caretaker and friend, LaRhonda Askew of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson; and her siblings, Kathryn Paul, Anna-Mae Stevenson and James Boatright.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Halifax Hospice Care Center Chapel in Port Orange, Fla. An additional memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. April 9 at the Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel, 1900 E. 19th St. in Cheyenne.
