Carolyn L. Bruce

Carolyn L. Bruce, 76, passed away unexpectedly, April 9, 2014, in Morristown, Arizona.

She was born March 22, 1938 in Appalachia, Virginia to Duard and Pauline (Mann) Thompson and lived in Kingsport, Tennessee until 1965, when she and her husband, Robert (Bob) Bruce and son, Larry Harrison moved to LaGrande, Oregon.

Carolyn received her LPN license from Holston Valley Community Hospital in 1960 and worked in maternity ward.  In LaGrande, she continued to work in nursing.

She and Bob have two sons, Jerry Wayne Bruce and Christopher Lee Bruce.  The family moved to Spokane, Washington and then settled in Cheyenne in 1978.

Carolyn was extremely artistic with her paintings, macramé, croquet, sewing, ceramics, silk flower arrangements and photography.  She also enjoyed bowling; bowling on several leagues through the years, hunting, camping and fishing.  Upon Bob’s retirement, they would spend the summer up on the mountains and winters in Arizona.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Bob; son, Larry (Vicky) Harrison of Blountiville, Tennessee and granddaughter, Natasha of Georgia; son, Jerry (Dixie) Bruce; granddaughters, Emily and Lizzie; grandsons, Robert M. “Bobby” Bruce, William and Ian; son, Christopher (Heather) Bruce; granddaughter, Brianna and grandsons, AJ and Devane Nevarez; and two great-granddaughters of Cheyenne; mother-in-law, Lois Bruce; sisters, Pat (Jim) Donaldson of Kingsport, Tennessee and Margaret (Shepherd) Pinney of Cheyenne; Sisters-in-law, Pati (John) Schmidt of Cheyenne, Sue (Howard) Perry of LaGrande, Oregon; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews of Cheyenne and cousins in Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, father-in-law, Morris Bruce and other relatives.

Services are Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.  Interment in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
