Carmel Louise Hamilton, 90, of Cheyenne, passed on February 14, 2022, in Cheyenne.
She was born on September 22, 1931, in Nathrop, Colorado.
Carmel was a stay-at-home mom during most of her children's formative years living first in Colorado and later in Casper and Cheyenne, Wyoming. For many years, she worked in the kitchen at CY Junior High and H&R Block in Casper. She was a lover of all types of crafts, a skilled seamstress and a wonderful cook. Many friends as well as strangers benefitted from her talents as she was a giving person and rarely kept anything she made for herself. She and her husband, Forest also enjoyed camping and traveling. They took many trips together and with other family members - always adventurous. Carmel was proud of her Spanish heritage and compiled important genealogy information for generations of her family. A devoted Catholic, she regularly sang with the Spanish Choir at Our Lady of Fatima in Casper. Family sing-a-longs were also something she truly loved. She enjoyed dinner theaters and games of all types. She was a gentle soul whose adage was, "Kill 'em with kindness."
She is survived by daughters Charlotte (Ray) Kalkofen, Chris (Butch) Oliver, Pat (Bob) Tipton and Julie (Pete) Kozlowski, brother Chuck Atencio, fourteen grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Forest; son, Frank; grandson, Gabe Oliver; her parents, Estrella (Esther) Maria Merced (Tafoya) and Jose Noberto Atencio, five sisters and two brothers.
