Carl W. Rodekohr of Cheyenne, passed away on September 7th, 2016 at the VA Medical Center surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Carl was born on January 24, 1933 in Tilden, Nebraska and was raised on the family farm in Meadow Grove, Nebraska with his two brothers and one sister. He moved with his family to Cheyenne in 1946. He attended Cheyenne High School where he excelled in swimming and graduated with the class of 1951. Following high school, Carl honorably served four years in the Navy. He then moved to Sterling, Colorado to work with his brother Keith in a family-owned business. There, he met his future wife Ann, and they were married in 1956. Carl and Ann returned to Cheyenne in 1957 where he joined the Wyoming Air National Guard. Carl retired from the Air Guard after 33 years of loyal service, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.
Carl is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann; three children, Barbara of Summers', SD, Rick (Linda) of Houston, TX, and Carl of Cheyenne; 10 grandchildren; his sister, Jean Wheeler and sister-in-law, Dianne Rodekohr, both of Cheyenne; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lola; two brothers Richard and Keith; and his brother-in-law Lewis Wheeler.
Carl was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Cheyenne. The family would like to give a special "thank you" to the staff of the VA hospital who provided meaningful and loving care during his final days.
A Funeral Liturgy will be, Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel in Cheyenne, Wyoming with Father Tom Cronkleton as the celebrant.
Burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery.
Cremation has already taken place.
