Brenda Marie (Patton) Ocheskey, 59, passed away at home with Robert holding her hand, and the Lord’s welcoming arms around her. It was a brave and brutal fight with cancer.
Brenda was born on July 31, 1963, at the US AFB in Berlin, Germany to Billie and Retha Sisler Patton. Both parents were in the Air Force. Brenda and her parents were stationed at FE Warren AFB beginning in 1965.
Retha raised John and Brenda as a single mother. John was stricken with meningitis at six months which left him challenged. Brenda became his protector from the neighborhood bullies. When John went to the state school in Lander, the bullies switched to her.
Brenda’s first job was at Burger Chef as a server. She tried a few other jobs but went back to serving at the Albany where she found her niche. She moved to Poor Richard’s where she perfected her serving technique. She met many wonderful people there and had a lot of devoted patrons for 16 years. She would work double shifts and take on extra shifts when asked. She was working there in 1992 when Robert met her downtown and fell for her sparkly personality and beauty. They were married in 1996.
She would cocktail at the Redwood during CFD where she met many new friends and patrons. She also bartended at Scooter’s for seven years and filled in at Alf’s for years.
Later, she took a job at LCSD1 as a nutritional services worker. She loved dressing up for all the holidays and making the kids smile.
Her last year she moved to Johnson Jr. High. All her co-workers were so kind to her this last year as she fought cancer. She worked her last shift about three weeks prior to her passing.
Brenda loved being outside in the summer but not so much in the winter. Brenda and Robert camped, boated, and played softball. Many of the last years were spent chasing golf balls around the local courses.
Brenda loved collecting unicorns, and feral cats, and had many. Mostly she collected friends, smiles, and laughter. It is amazing that despite very difficult childhoods for John and Brenda, they are and were two of the most loving and giving people you could meet.
Brenda is survived by her husband Robert; stepdaughters Nichole and Krystal; brother John C. Patton (JP); and a large Ocheskey and in-law clan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws Jimmy and Virginia Torres, Linda Olson, Patricia Wertz; and son Troy Wertz. She will be missed by so many who will miss her smile, laugh, and dedication to serving everyone.
A Memorial Service will be held at The Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 10:00 am. The service will be lived streamed beginning at 10:00 am. A reception will be held at The East Lincolnway Event Hall, 3839 E. Lincolnway, beginning at 12:00 pm.
