Bobby Ephron Gissendanner, 92 just a week short of his 93rd birthday passed away at Davis Hospice on 30 June 2023 after a short illness with cancer.
He was born on July 7, 1930 in Sylvester, Georgia, to Willie Jordan and Lula Mae Gissendanner.
He worked tirelessly his whole life. He started a career in the US Air Force as a young man, and then decided to leave active duty after about 14 years and moved his family to Cheyenne where his wife’s parents (John/Olive Schluter) lived. He then went to work for what was Mountain Bell Telephone Company. He later retired from that job. He also got back into the military part time joining the Naval Reserve, and eventually joining the Wyoming Air National Guard and retired as a Master Sergeant working on the C130 aircraft. He also started another career as a realtor full time after leaving Mountain Bell. He worked until he was 80 years old selling real estate for the Property Exchange, and has many friends and people he has helped. When he was much younger and there was a need for more money for the family he would paint houses, sell Christmas trees, work as a projectionist at the movie theaters, or do whatever it took to keep his family going and to be happy. He also had a special place in his heart for animals including his dogs, and people who needed help, and he helped many.
Bobby was a very involved member of the CFD Contract Acts committee for many years. He was also a great bass guitarist who played in different bands who entertained during CFD parades, nursing homes and the American Legion. He loved playing music.
Bobby was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother and stepsister. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Betty Gissendanner. He also has 3 children, Steve (Janet) Gissendanner, Linda Gissendanner/Tom Smejkal, and Debby (Tom) Bostrom. He also has 5 grandchildren by age Chip Halverson, Greg Hamel (Gwen), Dawn Munk, Joseph Bostrom and Tim Bostrom. He also has 3 great grandchildren, Steven Munk, Austin Munk and Ashlee Munk. He is also survived by his special sister in law, Violet Garland and nephew John Garland.
Services at going to be at the Cheyenne Church of Christ, 4707 Allan Road, just east of the cemetery on highway 30, at 10AM on Monday July 10, 2023 followed by interment at Memorial Gardens, followed by a reception at the church for all to attend. All are welcome to attend the service, the interment, the reception or any option. If you can only make the reception, that is fine.
