Blas Medina Jr., 92, of Egbert, passed away November 2 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 4, 1929 in El Coyote, NM son to Blas Sr. and Ruperta Medina. Blas married Eleanor, his wife of 70 years, in 1947. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, gambling, and home projects. His family was his pride and joy. Blas worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a section foreman for 42 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include daughters, Terry (John) Herkert of Las Cruces, NM, Paula (Dennis) Hemenover, and Patsy (Francis) Holmes of Cheyenne; son, Michael(Chuck) Medina of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, Keri Ann Rodrigue, Michelle Valdez, Shawn Hemenover, Mandy Roth, Kyle Holmes, and Kristopher Holmes; thirteen great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; brothers, Donicio and Domingo; sisters Rosa and Mercy.
He is preceded in death by daughter, Cecily Medina; wife, Eleanor; parents, Blas, Sr. and Ruperta; siblings, Beatrice, Melita, Jose, Frances, Gilbert, and Alex.
Vigil for the deceased will be Sunday, November 7 at 4:00 p.m. in Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be Monday, November 8 at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
