Billie L. “Bill” Jackson, 79, of Cheyenne, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Cheyenne.
He was born on October 16, 1936 in Thayer County, Nebraska to Louie A. and Anna J. (Schroeder) Jackson. He grew up on a farm near Belvidere, Nebraska and graduated from Belvidere High School in 1954.
Bill worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 37 years, starting as a section man in 1955, and retiring as Manager Engineering Maintenance in December of 1992. He and his family moved around Nebraska with the U.P., before finally settling in Cheyenne in 1975. Upon retirement, Bill moved to a farm outside of Cheyenne where he enjoyed raising Hereford cattle.
On June 1, 1958 he married Joann Miller in Geneva, Nebraska. They became the parents of Lana, Jamie, and Danny.
Bill was a member of the Moose Lodge and Sons of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joann; daughter, Lana Hendricks; two sons, Jamie (Michelle) Jackson, and Danny Jackson; grandchildren, Jenifer and Jason Hendricks, Brenton, Cami, Kyle, and T.J. Jackson, and Kayla DeHoff; great grandchildren, Tayler Charley, Austana Smith, Gavin and Conor Jackson, and Mike and Taylor Gay; brother-in-law, Lynn Koozer; sisters-in-law, Hazel Ewalt and Tami Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Fred Jackson; and a sister, Norma Dill.
Services will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel followed by interment at Mountain View Memorial Park.
A reception at the Moose Lodge will immediately follow the services.
Friends who wish may contribute to the Davis Hospice Center.
