Betty L. (Walsh) Helsel, 71, of Cheyenne died October 1st at her home. She was born March 3, 1945 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Joseph Thomas and Viola Gladys (Feckley) Walsh. Betty was the only daughter and had six brothers: Robert, Walter, Joseph Duane, Lester, Neal, and Dale.
Betty attended school at Chalk Butte Elementary, North of Henry, NE and attended Junior and Senior High School in Torrington, Wyoming. She graduated in 1964. After high school Betty worked at Smith Flower Shop in Torrington until she met her future husband, John Helsel in the fall of 1964. After a brief courtship they were married November 28, 1964 in Hill City, South Dakota.
Betty enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed reading, gardening, playing card games and scrabble. She also loved watching Fox News and enjoyed a good political debate with anyone that was willing to participate.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert and Walter, and her husband John. Betty is survived by two sons, John E. (Christina) Helsel and Michael (Stacy) Helsel all of Cheyenne; two daughters, Tanda (John) Frahm of Fenton, Michigan, and Jodi (Erik) Smith of Cheyenne; nine grandchildren, John Thomas and Victoria Helsel of Cheyenne, Chandler Frahm of Fenton, Mich., Joseph and Teegan Helsel of Cheyenne, Mikaela, Chaisley, Katerina and Natasha Smith of Cheyenne; her four brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Friday, 10:00 a.m., at Wiedersphahn-Radomsky Chapel.
