Betty (Whitney) Gysel, 95, of Cheyenne died Tuesday, October 27, 2015.
Born May 29, 1920, in Cheyenne to Robert and Carolyn Whitney. She graduated from Cheyenne High in 1938. Married to Irving Gysel in 1942, they later divorced in 1964.
After 22 years with the State Land Office in the Oil and Gas Lease Department she retired to serve the community.
As a member of First United Methodist Church Betty served on many committees and prayer groups.
Betty was an office holder in the Archer Friendly Club, LaSertoma and SERG, past president of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Axillary she logged 8000 volunteer hours at the Hospital's Gift Shops and Home Away from Home until July when she was diagnosed with cancer.
She enjoyed many activities such as travelling and was an avid bowler.
Betty is survived by her children, Gary Gysel, Hornbrook, California, Jim (Lee) Gysel, Broomfield, Colorado and Connie (Bill) Holgerson, Albin, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Whitney and Wallis Whitney, and a grandchild, Quentin Gysel.
Viewing Saturday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
Life Commemoration Service 2:00 p.m., Monday at First United Methodist Church.
