Betty K. Bechtholdt, 81, peacefully passed away September 20th, 2023 in Albequerque, New Mexico.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Zelma Smith; Betty’s late husband Larry Bechtholdt; their son, Timothy Bechtholdt; and eight brothers and sisters.
Betty leaves behind her son, Larry Bechtholdt, Jr. and his wife Jody; four grandchildren, Kristin and Josh Nguyen, Ryan and Sofia Bechtholdt; five great-grandchildren, Mikah, Lilliana, Jozlyn, Matthew and Lucia; and four siblings, John and Denise Smith, Fred Smith and Linda Smith.
Betty was born December 22, 1941, in Denver, Colorado. Betty grew up on the Smith family farm until she relocated to Cheyenne, Wyoming after graduating from Crook High School. Betty made a career of working at the bank. She helped a lot of people and developed many valuable relationships until she later retired from Community First National Bank. Betty lived a fulfilled life; she was never far from family and brought joy to everyone around her. Betty was loving, funny, creative, attentive, and a great friend, mother, sister, aunt and grandma. She loved spending time with her grand kids and great-grandkids; making them laugh, playing games, and doing crafts. Betty and her husband Larry, Sr. loved to fish and travel together, accumulating the most captivating stories.
Betty’s passing comes with comfort knowing as she quietly stepped from this world to the next, she was greeted by loved ones she missed dearly. In life Betty brought light to the world; in death her light will carry on in the hearts of everyone who loved her. Forevermore, the sight of a sunflower, frog, or Betty Boop, will bring fond memories of Grandma “B”.
