Beth Ann Stevens took her last breath of life and her heart stopped beating on January 20th, 2021 after her battle with COVID-19, husband Tim Stevens and newfound brother and sister Dave and Tonya were by her bedside to say their goodbyes as she joined her Heavenly Father and family ... dad Mike and mumzie Helen Lay; brother Kevin Lay; sister Kimberly Sue; grandparents O. D. and Gertrude Lay; Harry and Margaret Hirz; Kenneth and Luella Lougee; her beloved dog Rusty and kitty Furry.
Beth Annie was the daughter of ranching couple Mike and Helen Lay on the Cross Open A Hereford Ranch north of Torrington WY. She would climb up her horse Tuck’s leg, grab hold of his mane and pull herself into the saddle by the age of three which gave her the ability to do an amazing 100 chin-ups in first grade. Her favorite swing had to be the electric fence around the garden. Family and friends got a kick out of how she would swing back and forth and never get shocked. By the time she turned seven she had made her first dinner including country gravy. She was a 4-H member showing Hereford steers, sewing garments to model on the runway and cooking. Beth Annie would be found in the kitchen baking chocolate chip cookies, lemon meringue pies, loaves of homemade bread and yummy cinnamon rolls for others to enjoy.
Beth Annie only had one fear that could make her run faster backwards than
forwards: rattlesnakes and bull snakes. Beth Annie was 6 and Lori 7 when this little incident happened. Lori grabbed a jacket off the wall hook and put it on and out fell a bull snake. Dad let Lori keep the snake in a jar for a pet. Beth Annie had vivid dreams about the snake, needless to say the bull snake found a new home out on the prairie and Beth Annie slept well. Beth Annie and Lori ran to the house so excited that we had filled big jar with crickets for bait. Beth Annie came to the doorstep, she screamed RATTLESNAKE, without losing her stride she dropped the jar and it shattered on the doorstep and the crickets scattered. Beth Annie leaped over the rattlesnake into the house.
As a CNA, with her smile, adorable giggle and laughter and her love for others, she was loved by the elderly that she cared for and their families.
Tim and Beth Annie found a lot of happiness on their acreage. They raised chickens that produces eggs so big that the egg carton wouldn’t close.
Some of the eggs were so colorful they looked as if Easter arrived. Beth Annie discovered her green thumb as she farmed the garden spot.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Stevens. During their 25 years together (married October 2, 2019), Beth Annie and her Timmy had the most caring and loving family life. She leaves Tim with their four dogs Boomer, Freddie, Cloe Ann and Maggie and kitty Bucci. They took their pasture-like acreage and made it a home. Timmy even helped take care of his mother-in-law in their home for several years.
