Bessie Lee Avey, 86, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday January 21, 2021. She was born in Melrose, New Mexico on May 16, 1934. She was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She worked in the factory industry for 6 years in South Carolina prior to moving back to Cheyenne in 1970. She volunteered for Needs, Inc. in the early 1980’s for many years. She worked for the City County Health Unit and the VA Hospital in the pharmacy. She worked in the Home Health Care field until her retirement in 1994. She was a born-again Christian since 1960 and she enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, sewing, crocheting, singing, dancing, spending time with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and giving to and caring for others.
She is survived by her children Ralph (Stephanie) Avey of Sheridan, WY, Rebecca (Glen) Burns of Cheyenne, WY, Debra (Albert) Pierce of Sheridan, WY, and Lawrence O’Donald of Seneca, South Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Wayne Avey; her parents James C. Norvell and Burnice L. Ramsauer; 3 siblings Wanda (Pat) T. Wray, Bobbie K. Loo, Harold J. Norvell; 2 sons Billie R. O’Donald and Leonard (Pete) C. O’Donald; and 3 grandsons Jerry Lee L. O’Donald, Edward Charles Burns, and Joseph Lee Bogart.
She will be dearly missed but never forgotten in our hearts, her legacy will live on.
