Bess J. Tarbuck

March 24, 1949 — January 13, 2021

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Bess passed away peacefully at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne with her son, Michael, by her side.
Bess was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 24, 1949 Bess was raised in an Air Force family. Her father’s military service brought Bess and her family to Warren AFB in Cheyenne. Her father retired in Cheyenne and Bess graduated high school there as well. Bess began work for the State of Wyoming, with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, in 1974. She later moved to the Department of Environmental Quality, and the Department of Health among others. Bess retired from her position as Business Systems Analyst with the Department of Family Services after over 25 years of service to the State of Wyoming.
Bess met and married her partner, soulmate and husband of over 20 years, Walter W Tarbuck, in Cheyenne. The couple loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas, and did so several times a year. Bess had a sharp wit and was kind and compassionate. She loved spending time with her dear friends and family, whether that was at a concert, comedy show or just trading stories and laughs. She had a lively sense of humor and especially loved to laugh. Everyone who knew Bess would say her laugh was sparkling and contagious. She enjoyed many hobbies in her life including word puzzles and crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed holiday movies. Christmas was Bess’s favorite time of year and she shared her love of Christmas movies with many people. She also rescued, adopted, and spoiled, many four-legged friends in her life.
Bess was widowed, far too early, by her husband Walt.
Daughter of the late Joyce (Moody) and Robert Allen Ainslie, Bess is survived by her brother, Robert James Ainslie; her son, Michael Tarbuck; two grandchildren, Erynne Tarbuck and Jaimeson Tarbuck; and many nieces and nephews.
Close friends and family will celebrate Bess’s life later this spring. In lieu of flowers or other gifts of remembrance, please make donations in her memory to the ASPCA.
