Bernice Gertrude Wagner, 92 of Loveland, CO and formerly of Cheyenne, WY, passed away June 17, 2015 at Davis Hospice.
She was born October 16, 1922 in Indianapolis, IN, to William John and Gertrude Christine (nee Wuench) Hauser.
Bernice graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and earned a Business Administration degree from Butler University.
Bernice married James (Jim) Robert Wagner on August 26, 1944 at Camp Campbell, KY.
She worked for the Women’s Section of the Indianapolis Times; the Public Relations Department at Purdue University and as a secretary at West Lafayette High School.
Following WWII, she and Jim lived in Indiana and Michigan. She was a devoted wife and mother, volunteering at her children’s schools and events.
Following retirement Bernice and Jim moved to Wyoming in the 1980s and opened the General Store Antiques. They traveled the country doing antique shows and in the summers, had a small shop at Ryan Park, WY.
Bernice was an accomplished seamstress, knitter, and crafter. She was also an avid golfer, playing until she was 90 years of age.
Bernice is survived by her three children, Jim Wagner of Bayport, Minnesota, Lyn (Tom) Fagan of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Betsy Gusea-Gerringer (Tal) of Cheyenne, six grandchildren: Todd (Michelle) and David Wagner, Jennifer (Jason) Barker, Adam Gusea, Caitlyn and Kelsey Fagan, three great-grandchildren: Tara Gusea, Katarina and Sebastian Wagner and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Wagner, an infant daughter, Christine Wagner, a brother, Don Hauser, and her parents, Bill & Gertrude Hauser.
Memorial services will be held at 4 pm, Monday, June 22 at the First Presbyterian Church.
