Barbara Mae Turk, 90, of Cheyenne, passed away on November 23, 2022 at the CRMC.
She was born to Dan and Freda Heinbigner in Loveland, Colorado on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1932.
Barbara was the proud granddaughter of German immigrants who came to the U.S. from Russia in the early 1900’s by way of Ellis Island, New York. They settled in Loveland, Colorado.
She attended schools in Loveland and later in Cheyenne, Wyoming where her family had moved in 1945 at the end of WWII.
Barbara and Sam Turk were married in 1956. They celebrated 51 happy years together.
She had been employed by the Federal Government for many years. When she and Sam retired, they moved to Loveland and became actively involved in restoring and selling antiques. They returned to Cheyenne in 1999. Sam passed away in 2007. Barbara continued living in their home where she spent many happy hours researching her family history. She included documents, pictures, and stories in an album for the family to enjoy.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women’s group. She worshiped Jesus, Her Lord and Savior.
Barbara is survived by a son, Randy Salo; two sisters, Mary Lou Marcum and Donna Martin; niece, Barbara Lou Martin; nephews, David Marcum (Elizabeth), Dan Marcum (Maira), Glenn Martin, Roger Martin (Jo Beth), and Ron Martin; many great nieces and nephews; as well as good friends, Dennis, Julie and Linda, along with BFF, Amber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Freda Heinbigner; her beloved husband, Sam Turk; two brothers in law, Bobby Marcum and Larry Martin; and a nephew, Ken Marcum.
Graveside services will be conducted at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens on Monday, 5/8, 4:00 p..m.
