Antonio (Tony) Romero, 74 of Cheyenne passed away at home on November 15.
Born January 7, 1940 in Raton, NM to Antonio and Tillie Romero, he attended Cheyenne HS and after graduation joined the National Guard, later activating into regular Army for 17.5 years. He worked various construction jobs until retirement. In 1957 he married Georgia Leyba and had two children. He enjoyed fishing and the Broncos. He loved having company and collecting pictures of friends and family and was known to some as Pops.
Survivors include his daughter, Janet Romero Super (Robert), son John S. Romero, step-sons, Eddie Manzanares, Ponch Sanchez, Richard Sanchez, and Phillip Sanchez, step-daughters, Georgia Manzanares, Yvonne Sanchez, grandchildren Vanessa Super, Alex Super, Destiny Garza-Super, Angelique Garza-Spencer, Brothers Richard Sandoval, Frank and George Lechner, and sisters, Rosey Robles, Mary Ann Moore, Joan Sclatter, and Eva Lechner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Gloria, brothers Tommy and John I. Romero, and godson Tony Robles. A Vigil will be held Thursday November 20, at 6pm at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel.
