Antonia Melendez, 104, of Cheyenne Wy, passed away June 22, at Life Care Center surrounded by her family.
She was born August 16, 1914, in Mora, New Mexico, the daughter of Matias and Carolina Martinez. Antonia lived in Cheyenne for 68 years.
Antonia lived at home until she was 100 years old. She spent most of those years working tirelessly. In addition to the scores of jobs to make sure her children had what they needed to live well, she also dedicated a significant portion of her life to her Catholic faith, making an impact on her community in Cheyenne.
She is survived by her children Lee Melendez (Rita), Stella Lewis, Mary Ann Tafoya (Jesse), Anthony Melendez, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Melendez and her 3 siblings.
She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Vigil for the deceased will be Wednesday, July 3rd at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel at 6pm. Funeral Liturgy will be on Friday July 5th at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Olivet Cemetery. Expressions of care can be sent to
