Antoine J. “Tony” Oliger, 96, of Cheyenne died Dec. 11 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne.
Tony was born July 14, 1918, in Walschbronn, France. He married Marie Huleux on July 30, 1938. He served in the French Army during World War II and was a POW. He came to the United States in 1949 with his wife and sons and settled in Lockport, New York where they obtained citizenship. He and his family moved to Cheyenne in 1963.
Before retiring, Tony was a welder and electrician out of Local 415. He enjoyed ham radio and obtained an Extra level operating license, speaking with people around the world. He also enjoyed tinkering with electronics and spending time with family.
Tony is survived by his wife Marie of 76 years of Cheyenne, his brothers Edmund, Paul and Albert of France, daughter-in-law Kathryn, grandson Marcel, granddaughter Kelly and husband Lucas West, great-grandchildren Adena and husband Adam Leibouvitz, Karissa Oliger, Alanna and James West, great-great-grandchildren Neveah, Mackenzie and Ryland Leibouvitz, all in Cheyenne and many nephews and nieces in France.
Tony was preceded in death by his children Arlette, Alain, Roland, Andre, his parents Albert and Jeanne, and bother Robert.
Rosary for the Deceased will be 6 p.m Tuesday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
Funeral Liturgy will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Thomas officiating.
Interment will follow the funeral liturgy at Olivet Cemetery in Cheyenne.
Pallbearers will be Marcel Oliger, Lucas West, Adam Leibouvitz, Alex Toalson, Michael Wolititch, and Jason Means.
In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may contribute to Davis Hospice Center, Cheyenne.
