Alvin McKenzie, 93, of Cheyenne, died August 9, 2018. He was born January 9, 1925 in Brush, Colorado. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at the VFW 4343.
Al enjoyed the mountains, hunting and fishing. He was in the Marines during WWII. Throughout the rest of his life he was a constant presence at the VFW 4343 serving the Post as Commander several times and various state offices along with his wife Maxine. Al and Maxine owned several businesses in Cheyenne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Charles McKenzie, step-father, Alva Wininger, infant sister Marie and brother Charles McKenzie, step-sister, Lynette Mason, step-brothers, Clifford, Harold and Alva Wininger Jr., daughter Joy and her husband Joe Artrip, and son, Joe McKenzie.
Al is survived by his ex-wife, Maxine McKenzie, grandchildren, Christopher Gore of Gillette; Joseph McKenzie of Denver; Nicole Slagle of Casper; Alex McKenzie, US Army stationed in Hawaii; Marissa McKenzie and Ashley Ortiz, USAF stationed in California; and great-granddaughter, Debra McKenzie of Hillsboro, Texas.
