Anthony B. Smith

Anthony B. “Tony” Smith, who spent most of his career as an optician, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in Cheyenne, WY. He was 66. He died from complications due to diabetes. Tony was born on December 17, 1958 in Cheyenne, WY, to Frances and Marion Smith. He was a 1977 graduate of Laramie Senior High School. He went on to receive his optician certification while living in Minnesota. He married Shelly Swenson in 1981, and they had one daughter, Charlynn. They later divorced. Tony spent several years working as a licensed optician in Brooklyn Park, MN, before moving to Cheyenne, WY. He worked at A New Concept Optical & Eyecare in Cheyenne before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, Minnesota Vikings football, and woodworking. He was also an excellent cook. He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his sister, Michelle; his daughter, Charlynn (Patrick) Schmiedt; and extended family and friends. At his request, a service will not be held. In lieu of a a service, the family encourages those who want to remember Tony to go on a fishing trip in his honor, get together to reminisce, or make a donation in his name to a charity of their choice.
