Lora J. Thaxton

Lora J. (Putnam) Thaxton, 56, of Cheyenne, passed away at CRMC August 8, 2024 surrounded by her loving family as she entered into the Lord’s rest. She was born August 13, 1967 in Encino CA to Cathy “CJ” (Nieting) and Dale Putnam.
Lora grew up and attended school in Cheyenne, the oldest of two daughters. She worked various jobs and enjoyed volunteering at Cheyenne Frontier Days as a teen. Lora married John Thaxton on June 13, 2006 and has thoroughly enjoyed creating her story with him. They were married in full Renaissance traditional costumes and enjoyed their day committing their lives to one another. Lora and John lived in Boise for a time before returning to Cheyenne to spend more time with their grandchildren.
She is survived by her dedicated and adoring husband John; son Jonathan of Ogallala NE; daughter Catherine of Cheyenne; sister Beth Sneyd & nephew Trevor of San Marcos CA; father & stepmother Dale & Betsy Putnam, and brother Matthew of Cheyenne. She is also survived by several grandchildren, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Lora was preceded in death by her beloved mother CJ Putnam; her maternal grandparents Jeanne and Vernon Nieting; her paternal grandparents Ivol and Melvin Putnam; her uncle Michael Nieting; and her aunt Karen Sarten.
