Carol Ann Anderson

Carol Ann Anderson, (Fogarty), 73, passed away on September 9, 2019 at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was born in Utica, NY on December 19, 1945. She graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, PA in 1963. She obtained her nursing degree from Saint Mary’s Hospital school of nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Upon obtaining her nursing license she worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Maryland, tending to the many physically and mentally wounded Vietnam service members. She later moved into pediatric nursing which she thoroughly enjoyed. During this period, she managed to marry, work, and raise three children.
The family moved to Cheyenne in 1980. She was a parishioner of Saint Mary’s Catholic church, Cheyenne. She worked for the University of Wyoming Family Residency Program and retired from there in 2008. As a Master Gardener, she enjoyed attending various botanical gardens across the country as well as art museums around the world. She loved to travel and explore off-the-beaten-path locations. She traveled to Europe on many occasions, but Ireland was her favorite, having discovered the ruins of her ancestral family castle on her last visit. She also loved attending and making new friends at Celtic festivals around the country. She was an accomplished metalsmith and enjoyed the companionship of her fellow metalsmiths. She relished the many Celtic pieces of jewelry she crafted over the years. One of her favorite activities was snowshoeing the Snowy Range mountains in December where she would harvest the family’s yearly Christmas tree, which she did for over thirty-five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vincent and Gladys Fogarty, and a nephew, Jamie Santanna. She is survived by her husband, Dana, two sons, Drew, of Longmont, CO, Brett (Deb), of Denver, CO and a daughter Devon, Cheyenne, WY, as well as her precious grandson, Gryphin, whom she adored. She also leaves behind siblings Vincent (Wendy) Fogarty, Nancy (Richard) Santanna, and Richard (Gina) Fogarty of Harrisburg, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has occurred. In lieu of flowers a donation to Davis Hospice Center, Cheyenne, Wyoming is appreciated.
