Arthur C. Koon

July 1, 1933 — March 4, 2023

Arthur Herman Koon. 1 July 1933 to 4 March 2023

Art began his journey on a humble cotton farm in Georgia. He witnessed the struggles and long hours his family put in to run the farm and as soon as he was barely legal enough to do so, he joined the United States Air Force. He took great pride in serving our country. Art also was proud that he was able to send home his earnings to help out his parents and try to lighten their load. Art was much like the cotton crop his family harvested. He was protective, durable, affable, reliable, and warm. His journey would see him through the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and ultimately stationed at the base here in Cheyenne where he met the love of his life, Beth. Together they raised eleven children. Upon his retirement, Art & Beth would spend many evenings together playing Bingo and trying their luck with the lotto. During the final years of Art's journey, you'd most likely find him sitting on his porch swing sipping sweet tea or playing those bingo cards and scratch offs. He has quite a large group of loved ones waiting for him to enter those pearly gates to include; his parents, Cleason & Sarah Koon, his siblings, Evelyn Butler, Edwin Koon, Lemuel Koon, Rayford Koon, Bill Koon, Peggy Hilliard, Janice Nipper, his beloved wife Beth, his children, Jim O'Dell, Tim O'Dell, Leesa Cameron, Mike O'Dell, Tina Bray, & Amber Lemmons. Many of us still here on earth missing him include: his surviving sister, Cindy Teague, his children, Dean O'Dell, Randy O'Dell, Christy Bradley, Gerrie Mansell, & Dawn Dee O'Dell as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family in Georgia, New Mexico, & Idaho, & his dear friends at Post 6 Bingo & Wyoming Downs. Art lived a fine life. He handled his struggles with grace and appreciated the small simple pleasures. He will be remembered fondly and greatly missed by all who knew him.

Service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lincolway Chapel. Dedication of the grave will take place on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 10:00 am in Beth El Cemetery.
