Harry “Ross” Kildow died at home in Cheyenne on December 10, 2021. He was born Jan. 10, 1944, to Edwin and Pauline Kildow in Laramie, Wyoming. Ross joined the Army at 18 and retired after 26 years with the rank of First Sergeant. Upon retirement in 1988, he and his family returned to Cheyenne, where he worked as a Highway Patrol dispatcher and as a civilian at F.E. Warren AFB. While on active duty Ross served in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, and had several postings in the United States, including Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. He also proudly served three tours in Vietmam as an Army Ranger and LRRP team leader. Ross was a voracious reader and loved building and playing cribbage. He was also a member of American Legion Post 6.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Cathy, Janet, and Charlotte. He is survived by his wife, Cherry; daughters Rachel (Josh) Van Houten of Loveland, CO, and Rebecca (Jacob) Iannello of Jacksonville Beach, FL; sons, Joseph (Rachel), David (Dana), and Matthew of Jacksonville, FL; and brother, Tom Kildow. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
Ross was interred at the Cheyenne National Cemetery on December 16, 2021. A celebration of life is planned for summer 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation of time or money to a local veterans’ organization.
